Can I go diving in Hong Kong?

Can I go diving in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong has a long coastline, offering many dive sites. Hong Kong is also full of country parks - including marine parks - with untouched hills, shady woodlands, golden sandy beaches and even some beautiful coral reefs.

Underwater visibility in Hong Kong does vary and is subject to prevailing wind and tide conditions. Depths also vary from shallow 5-10m dives, to deep 20-30m dives. There are a variety of artificial reefs and offshore islands to dive on. Small coral communities can also be found along the eastern coastline, which make ideal snorkeling spots.

Hong Kong as we know is situated to the east of the Pearl River estuary; consequently the western parts receive a great deal of transported sediment which affects visibility and growth of stationery marine life such as corals. The eastern and south eastern parts of the territory are relatively unaffected. Most divers are commenting on increased visibility and marine life compared to previous years. Not only is the number of species increasing, but the frequency of spotting larger fish has also increased.

Get yourself out of Central for a day to escape to the cleaner and greener parts of Hong Kong's New Territories and you will discover that Hong Kong is beautiful.

What can you see in Hong Kong underwater?
